Ahmed Musa could be coming back to England next season as Brighton set their sights on him

SUPER Eagles winger Ahmed Musa may be on his way back to the English Premiership next season after Brighton and Hove Albion expressed an interest in his services following the club's recent survival in the top flight.

Managed by former Irish international Chris Hughton, Brighton were one of the three promoted sides last season and have managed to avoid the drop over the weekend following a 1-0 victory over Manchester United. Aiming to build on this success next season, Brighton are looking to recruit some fresh players who will strengthen their squad.

Currently on loan from Leicester City to his former club CSKA Moscow, Musa has been on Brighton's radar for a while. Apparently, Brighton have been tracking him for some time and were even close to signing him on loan from Leicester in January before he decided on a return to CSKA.

At CSKA the 25 year old has regained the form that made Leicester splash €16m on him, scoring five league goals in nine games. In the domestic Russian cup he has a goal to his name, same as in the Europa League where he played six games.

Brighton are hoping to thrash out a deal that could see him return to the Premier League at the end of his loan deal with the Russian side. Mr Hughton, who in 1979 became the first mixed race player to represent the Republic of Ireland national team, is a keen admirer of the pacy winger .

After making his professional debut at the age of 20, Hughton spent most of his playing career with Tottenham Hotspur as a left back, leaving in 1990 after 13 years. After brief spells with West Ham United and Brentford, Hughton retired from playing in 1993 at the age of 34.

On 18 May 2016, Hughton signed a new four-year contract to manage Brighton, which will run until June 2020. On 9 March 2018, Hughton won Premier League Manager of the Month award for February, becoming the first black manager to win the prize.
