Newcastle consider offer for Arsenal's on-loan striker Balogun at the end of the season

ENGLISH Premier League giants Newcastle United are considering submitting an official offer for Arsenal striker Folarin Balogun currently out on loan to French side Reims during the forthcoming summer transfer window.

Balogun, 21, has been in fine form in the French league this season, scoring an impressive 15 goals in 25 games, making him the team’s top-performing offensive player. His performances have not gone unnoticed, with several English Premier League clubs showing interest in signing him.

Newcastle United are said to be one of the clubs looking Balogun, with journalist Steve Kay revealing on Twitter that the Magpies are pondering whether to make an official offer for the forward later in the summer. Arsenal are said to be planning to recall him after his season-long loan in France but may have to yield if a substantial offer comes in.

Mr Kay wrote: “Newcastle United are considering making a bid for Arsenal forward Folarin Balogun this summer. The Gunners forward, who is currently on loan at Reims, has scored 15 goals in 25 games in Ligue One this season.”

With 96 goals and 24 assists in just 161 appearances throughout his career at youth and senior level, Balogun is widely regarded as one of the top young talents in European football. Should Newcastle be able to secure Balogun’s services, it would be a massive coup for the club, as the young striker is seen as a player with a bright future ahead of him.

Currently an England youth international, Balogun played in all five of Reims’ games in February, scoring four goals, with his first hat-trick as a professional coming in a 4-2 win over Lorient. Balogun is fourth in the Ligue One top scorer race with 15 goals, behind Kylian Mbappe, Wissam Ben Yedder, and Jonathan David.
