Chelsea and Arsenal eye Birmingham City's Nigeria-eligible teenage striker Trevan Sanusi

SEVERAL English Premier League sides are lining up to sign Nigeria-eligible teenage striker Trevan Sanusi who is set to turn 16 next month thus making him eligible to sign an adult contract.

Currently playing for Birmingham City's academy, Sanusi, 15, is described as a versatile forward who can also be deployed as a winger. Chelsea are apparently in the driving seat to sign the talented youngster ahead of their Premier League rivals Arsenal according to online portal Football Insider.

Championship club Birmingham City are facing a real danger of losing Sanusi as they have failed to convince him to sign a new contract ahead of next season. Sanusi turns 16 in April, meaning he is eligible to sign a scholarship deal with an English club with effect from July 1, 2023.

Several Premier League clubs have sent their talent spotters to run the rule over Sanusi this season with a view to a potential swoop and the scouting reports on the prospect were excellent.  Sanusi has already made his full debuts for Birmingham City's U18s and development squad while still a schoolboy.

He has earned caps for England at U15 and U16 levels and was included in the travelling squad to Cyprus last month for the Uefa Development Tournament. He is eligible to play for Nigeria through his parents, however.
