Lai Mohammed states that Buhari is in 100% support of Tinubu's presidential ambition

INFORMATION minister Alhaji Lai Mohammed has declared that that President Muhammadu Buhari is fully supportive of the presidential ambition of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) candidate Asiwaju Bola Tinubu in next month's polls.

On February 25, Nigeria goes to the polls to elect a new president. In the presidential race, the frontrunners include former Lagos State governor Asiwaju Bola Tinubu of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), Alhaji Abubakar of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), former Kano State governor Senator Rabiu Kwankwaso of the New Nigerian Peoples Party (NNPP) and Peter Obi, the former Anambra State governor of the Labour Party.

Asiwaju Tinubu was nominated by the ruling APC to stand as its successor to outgoing President Buhari but according to Governor El-Rufai of Kaduna State, certain individuals working in the presidency ate trying to frustrate his ambition because their candidate did not win the party primaries. He said those individual elements are hiding behind President Buhari’s desire to do what he thinks is right.

Reacting to this story, Alhaji Mohammed said the president is committed to a free, fair and credible elections. He added that President Buhari is doing everything possible to ensure a level-playing field for all contestants.

Alhaji Mohammed said: “I want to say, unequivocally, that Mr President is in total support of our party’s flag bearer and that is attested to by his continuing campaign with the candidate across the country. It is preposterous to even suggest that Mr President, who is the leader of our party, is equivocating on his support for our presidential candidate."
