Plateau DPO commended for rejecting $200,000 bribe to quash armed robbery case

GOVERNOR Simon Lalong of Plateau State has commended policeman Daniel Amah from his state for rejecting a $200,000 bribe during the course of investigating a robbery at his post in Kano State.

Mr Amah, a serving officer with the Nigeria Police Force (NPF) is an indigene of Jos East Local Government Area of Plateau State. He joined the police as a cadet inspector in 2002 and is currently serving as a divisional police officer (DPO) in Bompai Police Station in Nasarawa Local Government Area of Kano State.

He is said to have rejected the $200,000 bribe while investigating a robbery matter which was reported to the police in the state. As the serving DPO, the robbers tried to bribe him to kill the case but he rejected their money, which led to the Independent Corrupt Practices Commission honouring him.

Governor Lalong commended the policeman for making the state proud, describing his conduct as exemplary. Macham Makut, the governor's spokesman, said: “Governor Lalong while congratulating the officer for his honesty and patriotism to reject the temptation to participate in corruption and conceal crime, said he had made his family, Plateau State and Nigeria proud by his actions.

“Lalong said he was not surprised because the action was in tandem with the Plateau spirit of diligence, honesty, patriotism and hard work. While urging him to keep the spirit and also continue to mentor others, the governor said by this singular act, the career of the officer was very bright in his quest to serve the nation.
