Not one of the presidential candidates has mentioned a plan to make Nigeria the leading producer of one of these commodities

Ayo Akinfe

[1] Plantain - 6m tonnes
[2] Papaya - 7m tonnes
[3] Cocoa - 2.5m tonnes
[4] Pineapples- 3.5m tonnes
[5] Maize - 350m tonnes
[6] Beef - 13m tonnes
[7] Palm oil - 40m tonnes
[8] Coconuts - 20 tonnes
[9] Groundnuts - 7m tonnes
[10] Mangoes - 25m tonnes

No matter how you look at it, Nigeria simply has to set her state governments production targets. Nothing else can work and until we are ready to bite that bullet, we will just be going round in circles.

I grew up thinking the gulags were a terrible idea but history has since shown that Joseph Stalin was right. If you want to radically boost production, you need to set ambitious targets with severe penalties for those who fail to meet them.

Russia would have remained a rural agrarian backwater but for forced industrialisation. Now, where does Nigeria locate a gulag to which we will send failing governors!
