APC supporters worried about Tinubu's continued stay in London for medical treatment

ALL Progressives Congress (APC) members have expressed concern over the current state of their presidential candidate Asiwaju Bola Tinubu amid reports that he is in the UK receiving medical treatment for an undisclosed ailment.

Last Sunday, Asiwaju Tinubu left Nigeria for the UK, fuelling speculation that he requires urgent medical attention. Last year, he came to London to recuperate after undergoing a knee operation and there are now fears that this could become a recurring theme as happened during the tenure of President Muhammadu Buhari.

Among party supporters, Asiwaju Tinubu's absence at the peace accord signing organised by the National Peace Committee earlier this week, raised a lot of concerns. Political opponents have made reference to the fact that he also missed the recent Nigerian Bar Association conference in Abuja too because he was in the UK.

However, Abiodun Ibrahim, the Federal Capital Territory coordinator for Grassroot for Asiwaju, said: “This election is not for a few weeks or days, it is for months. Asiwaju started campaigning as far back as February and he won perhaps the hardest primary. In the course of the primaries, he visited several states in the federations, held meetings day and night.

Ayo Ayelabowo, a member of the APC campaign council, added: “He is in London. Why he is in London? because he cannot rest in Lagos, they will not let him rest. This man has been working an average of 20 hours each day. People said, you need to leave this country, you need to rest as campaigns are coming soon.

"We thought he could take a break by coming to Abuja but they won’t let him. The issue of today is that the invitation for the peace accord came in very late. This campaign is a marathon, not a sprint, and I can assure you that Asiwaju is experienced enough to have a concrete plan."
