Yaya Toure to manage three Nigeria-eligible teenagers in his new role as Spurs youth coach

FORMER Ivorian legend Yaya Toure will be coaching three Nigerian teenagers in his new role as the Tottenham Hotspur U16 coach with responsible for grooming youngsters in the club's academy.

 

In his new role, Toure, a former Manchester City and Barcelona midfielder will be coaching three Golden Eaglets-eligible players. They are centre-forward Justin Oguntolu, central defender Timi Adekunle and exciting right-back Miracle Adewole.

 

Toure recently worked as assistant manager at Ukrainian side Olimpik Donetsk and in Russia with Akhmat Grozny. Before then, after retiring from playing professional football, he had an initial spell working with the Tottenham Hotspur Academy staff in the second half of the 2021/22 campaign.

 

In a glittering career, the former Barcelona and Manchester City midfielder won the Uefa Champions League, La Liga, Copa del Rey, Uefa Super Cup, Fifa Club World Cup, Premier League, FA Cup and Football League Cup. He also won the African Cup of Nations with Ivory Coast in 2015.

 

During his first game in charge of Tottenham Hotspur U16s, Toure's side defeated Leicester City 6-4 yesterday. Over the long term, Toure will be hoping to bring these youngsters through the ranks and get them into the senior team.
