Dennis signs four year deal with Nottingham Forest with he will link up with compatriot Awoniyi

SUPER Eagles winger Emmanuel Dennis has agreed a four year deal with English Premier League newcomers Nottingham Forest after competing his medical yesterday following his move from relegated Watford.

Late last month, Forest completed the signing of compatriot Taiwo Awoniyi from German Bundesliga side Union Berlin in a package worth a £17.5m (€20.5m). In a deal which shatters Nottingham Forest's previous record when it paid £13.5m for Joao Carvalho in 2018, Awoniyi signed a five year contract with the club.

Dennis, 24, on the other hand, joined Watford at the beginning of last season from Belgian side Club Brugge and has been one of the revelations of the campaign, scoring 10 goals in 33 appearances. With Watford now relegated and playing in the Championship, the second tier of English football, big clubs were lining to sign Dennis about a month ago.

Having a relegation clause in his contract, Dennis was sought by the likes of Brentford, Crystal Palace West Ham, Leeds and Aston Villa after Watford went down. yesterday, the chase ended, however, as Dennis put pen to paper for Nottingham Forest and will now link up with compatriot Awoniyi upfront.

Dennis, thought to have cost around £20m, becomes Nottingham Forest's 13th signing of the season in what has been a very busy transfer window for the club. Atalanta’s Remo Freuler has also just been signed and the club is also expected to complete the signing of Cheikhou Kouyate in the coming days.

If the latest two signings are completed, it will take Forest's summer signings to 15, the highest by far in the Premier League. Last Saturday, Forest lost 2-0 away at Newcastle on opening day of the season, indicating that they needed to strengthen their squad further to avoid relegation.
