Bournemouth winger Jordan Ibe says Eagles coach Gernot Rohr has asked him to join World Cup squad

BOURNEMOUTH winger Jordon Ibe claims he has received an offer from Super Eagles head coach Gernot Rohr to come and join the squad ahead of the 2018 World Cup taking place in Russia this summer.

Ibe, 22, who started his career at Liverpool, rejected the chance to switch allegiance to Nigeria in 2015, while Sunday Oliseh was still in charge of the Eagles. Ibe has since moved to Bournemouth, where he has seven assists in all competitions with a goal to his name this season.

One source close to the player claimed he was offered a chance to represent Nigeria at the World Cup later this year but he is yet to consider the offer as he is still hoping of forcing his way into the England squad. So far, it is not yet clear if Mr Rohr will send the player a formal invitation for Nigeria's next game against the Democratic Republic of Congo on May 28.

Nigeria will play three more friendly games before the World Cup against Congo and against England on June 2 at Wembley and against the Czech Republic on June 6. Ibe will have to be invited and distinguish himself in these games if he wants to make Nigeria's World Cup squad.
