Arsenal set to break club transfer record by offering Napoli €100m for Victor Osimhen

ENGLISH Premier League side Arsenal are contemplating breaking their transfer record during the current window and offering Italy's Napoli €100m for Super Eagles striker Victor Osimhen.

Ivorian Nicolas Pepe is currently Arsenal's record signing when he was purchased from French side Lille in 2019 for €84m. However, Arsenal are desperate to do something drastic as the club no longer qualifies for the Uefa Champions League, talk less of challenging for the Premier League title.

To matters worse for Arsenal, their north London rivals Tottenham Hotspurs qualified for the Champions League this season. Realising that they need to do something dramatic, Arsenal has opened talks with Napoli about Osimhen while at the same time holding talks with Manchester City for Gabriel Jesus.

Osimhen was in stellar form last season, scoring 18 goals in 32 appearances, which has attracted some of Europe’s big boys. Newcastle United, Manchester United, and Arsenal are among the frontrunners for the 23-year-old’s signature but Napoli is demanding a king's ransom for its star striker.

Napoli are demanding a fee in the region of €100m to €110m and so far, none of Osimhen’s suitors have been willing to meet that price. However, Arsenal could make a U-turn, as the Gunners are looking to offer Napoli €100m for the Super Eagles targetman.
