Hull City look to bring Anthony Nwakaeme to the English Championship this summer

ENGLISH Championship side Hull City are looking to purchase Nigerian striker Anthony Nwakaeme from Turkish side Trabzonspor during the summer transfer window as part of a major squad strengthening programme.

Hull survived the drop from the Championship this season just gone by and the club is now pressing ahead with plans to strengthen the playing squad significantly. Nwakaeme will be the first summer transfer window under the custodianship of Turkish media mogul Acun Ilicali, who bought the club back in January.

Mr Ilicali is ready to back head coach Shota Arveladze with what he needs. Nwakaeme, 33, who is out of contract at his current club this summer, won the Turkish Super Lig with Trabzonspor this past season, playing a significant part, scoring 13 times and notching 10 assists in 30 outings.

Nwakaeme is said to have rejected Trabzonspor’s new contract offer, making him a free agent this summer. His agent said the striker is considering an offer from Hull, which would see the Nwakaeme paid €2.5m a year in wages, which equates to nearly £41,000 per week.
