West Ham set their sights on signing Nigerian striker Emmanuel Dennis from Watford

ENGLISH Premier League side West Ham United have set their sights on Super Eagles striker Emmanuel Dennis with a view to purchasing from relegated Watford during the forthcoming summer transfer window.

Dennis, 24, joined Watford at the beginning of the season from Belgian side Club Brugge and has been one of the revelations of the campaign, scoring 10 goals in 33 appearances. With Watford now relegated and due to play in the second tier of English football next season, big clubs are lining up for Dennis' signature.

A relegation clause was signed when the player put pen to paper on his contract, so Dennis will not be moving with Watford to the Championship. In a season that has seen the player contribute half of Watford’s goals and become a standout player in the team, his performances have made him the fans' favourite.

West Ham have been brilliant this season but they will be searching for reinforcements as they look to challenge for a place in Europe next year. This season they reached the semi finals of the Europa League and now West Ham boss David Moyes will be looking to push for a place in the Champions League next season.

Watford paid €4m to Club Brugge for Dennis’ services last summer and the striker has performed way above expectations. Dennis would be an excellent addition to West Ham and he could be a decent bargain, as Watford could request £20m.
