Imo State Police Command parades 50 year old man who they claim is Ipob's bomb maker

MEN of the Imo State Police Command have arrested and paraded one Simeon Onigbo before the media claiming he is the Indigenous People of Biafra's (Ipob) bomb manufacturer responsible for making all the devices that have been causing mayhem lately.

Over recent weeks, Ipob and its militant wing, the Eastern Security Network (ESN), have been accused of being behind an orgy of violence across southeast Nigeria. There have been attacks on police stations right across the southeast geo-political zone, which the security forces have been unable to deal with.

Yesterday, however, Micheal Abattam, the spokesman for the Imo State Police Command, said they raided the bomb manufacturing camp at Uba Umuaka in Njaba Local Government Area of Imo State, following a tip-off. He added that upon arrest, the suspect confessed to manufacturing bombs used to attack police stations and government facilities across the state.

Mr Abattam said: “In line with the commissioner of police's strategy in stemming crime, the command’s tactical teams following credible intelligence received on 20/4/2022 at about 1700 hours, revealed the hideout of Ipob's militia wing ESN. There, they are manufacturing improvised explosive devices used in attacking police stations and government facilities in the state.

“Police operatives immediately mobilised to the hideout of the terror group located at Uba Umuaka in Njaba Local Government Area of Imo State and raided the camp. In the course of the raid, one Simeon Onigbo, male, aged 50, was arrested.

“On the spot interrogation, the suspect admitted being the manufacturer of most of the improvised explosive devices  used in attacking police stations in the state and outside the state. Meanwhile, the suspect has made useful statements and mentioned members of his gangs outside the state who patronise him."
