Three Nigerian billionaires make the Forbes list of top 500 wealthiest people on earth

AFRICA'S richest man Alhaji Aliko Dangote has retained his position in the Forbes annual World’s Billionaires List for the year 2022 that sees him listed as the 130th wealthiest man in the world for the 11th successive time.

 

Yesterday,  Forbes released its annual update, which ranks 2,668 billionaires across the world. Three Africans, all of them Nigerians, headed by Alhaji Dangote, were in the top 500 on the list.

 

Alhaji Dangote's total earnings of $14bn place him at the helm of the Africa list. Globacom boss, Mike Adenuga, is number 324 worldwide and the second African on the list, with a fortune of $7.3bn.

 

BUA Group chairman, Abdulsamad Rabiu, was listed as the 350th wealthiest person globally and third in Africa, with a fortune of $6.9bn. Francoise Bettencourt Meyers with her $74.8bn fortune was ranked as the richest woman on the planet for the second year running.

 

Overall, Ms Meyers is number 14 on the general list. She’s the granddaughter of the founder of beauty giant L’Oréal.
