Governor Buni makes London stop-over to visit Buhari as he returns from medical trip to Dubai

PRESIDENT Muhammadu Buhari has been visited by Yobe State governor and the chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC) caretaker extraordinary convention planning committee Governor Mai Mala Buni at his London home where he is recuperating.

In the UK for a two week health holiday during which he is meeting with his doctors, President Buhari has generally kept a low profile over the last week. However, it appears that the crisis engulfing the APC ahead of its party convention, has become so severe that the president has had to intervene.

Governor Buni, who has been abroad for medical treatment himself, made the brief stop-over in London on his way back to Nigeria from Dubai. According to one of the governor's aides, he and President Buhari had brief and fruitful discussions on measures to move APC forward preparatory to the national convention and the 2023 general election.

He also added that Governor Buni is expected back in Nigeria tomorrow, to resume office as the chairman of the APC caretaker committee. Tomorrow, the APC is expected to go ahead with its planned National Executive Committee meeting, consolidating Governor Buni's position.
