By 2050, it is estimated that Nigeria will be the third most populous nation on earth behind India and China. To sustain that kind of population you need a large landmass.
Nigeria is currently just 923,768 km², which is wholly inadequate. In contrast, if you merged these four nations together, you would have an immediate super power:
Nigeria - 923,768 km²
Niger Republic - 1.267m km²
Benin Republic - 114,763 km²
Cameroon - 475,442 km²
Total: 2,780,973
Now, in 2022 you cannot go about matching your troops across borders as if we are in the days of Napoleon Bonaparte, the Duke of Wellington or Frederick Lugard. What we can, however, is open amalgamation talks with our neighbours.
I just fail to see how we will become an industrial power with such a small landmass. With a 2.78m sq km Federal Republic of Songhai, however, the dynamics change drastically.
