English Premier League giants Leeds United plan audacious bid for Nigerian winger Moses Simon

ENGLISH Premier League giants Leeds United are planning to make an audacious bid for Super Eagles winger Moses Simon before the end of the January transfer window in a bid to revive their floundering season that has been blighted by injuries.

Historically, Leeds is one of the teams that has played the best free-flowing football in England, dating back to the 1970s when the side was managed by the legendary Don Revie. Over the last few seasons, this spirit has been revived by Argentine manager Marcelo Bielsa but during the current campaign, Leeds have struggled due to an unprecedented number of injuries.

In a bid to stop the rot and climb up to the top of the Premier League table, Leeds are planning to make a bid for Moses before the January transfer window closes tomorrow night. French football market insider Ignazio Genuardi, pointed out that Leeds has already approached Nantes, the winger's French club.

Simon enjoyed a spectacular January in Cameroon, where he helped the Super Eagles record three wins in four matches at the 2021 Africa Cup of Nations. By a long way, Moses, 26, was Nigeria's best player at the tournament, carrying on his good club form where he had been Nantes’ top performer, producing one match-winning display after another.

Nantes, however, have no intention of letting Simon leave France on the cheap, especially with his contract not expiring for another two and a half years. At the moment, Nantes considers the winger unsellable and will only sanction a sale if a considerable offer in the region of €20m comes in.

Simon joined Nantes permanently in 2020 for €5m from Spanish La Liga side Levante following an impressive year on loan. His made his name playing in the Belgian league for Gent but since then has seen his value rise.
