Former diasporan and Oyo Central's Senator Teslim Folarin loses his wife Angela in the UK

TRAGEDY has struck for the lawmaker representing the Oyo South Senatorial District Senator  Teslim Folarin after his wife Angela recently passed away in the UK after succumbing to a brief illness.

Senator Folarin, elected to his current position in 2019, is the chairman of the Senate Committee on Local Content. Once a diasporan himself, he spent years working in the British civil service, including being involved in management roles at the Department of Trade in London before returning to Nigeria in 2002.

A traditional Ibadan chief holding the title of the Laguna Olubadan of Ibadanland, Senator Folarin is also the head of his Baale family House in the Oja Igbo area. Mr Y O Olaniyi, a spokesman for the senator, announced the death, saying that Mrs Folarin passed away yesterday afternoon.

Mr Olaniyi said: “With total submission to the will of Almighty Allah, we announce the death of our wife, mother and sister, Chief (Mrs) Angela Nwaka Folarin. The wife of Oyo Central Senator was confirmed dead on Friday afternoon.

"She breathed her last in the United Kingdom. The deceased was hale and hearty until the angel of death knocked the door. May Almighty God comfort us and grant late Angela an eternal rest.”
