Asari Dokubo lashes out at Ipob saying their sit-at-home protest is impoverishing Ndigbo

NIGER Delta Peoples Salvation Force (NDPSF) leader Alhaji Asari Dokubo has lashed out at the head of the Indigenous People of Biafra (Ipob) Nnamdi Kanu saying the constant sit-at-home protests he calls across the southeast geo-political zone are impoverishing Ndigbo.

Following the abduction and arrest of Mr Kanu in June last year in Kenya and his arraignment before an Abuja court, his supporters have called for sit-at-home protests across the southeast whenever he appears in court. These sit-at-homes have now grown, however, and take place every Monday, being well policed by Ipob's military wing the Eastern Security Network (ESN).

Despite calls for the protests to be limited to when Mr Kanu appears in court, they have developed a life of their own with ESN operatives out on the streets every week to ensure compliance. Due to a combination of sympathy, fear and rigid enforcement, the protests have been very successful and Alhaji Dokubo has added his voice to those asking that they be called off.

Alhaji Dokubo said: “Fellow Biafrans, I have to come to you because of the crisis and the tragedy of genocidal proportion that’s enveloping Igboland and any Igbo man that’s supporting this, is evil. I want to clearly state that I have Igbo blood flowing in my veins.

“I have enough dose of Igbo blood flowing in my veins and I have never denied it. Every part of my family have Igbo blood flowing in their veins, so I am a stakeholder in Igboland and I can speak on what’s happening.

“Those of you who are encouraging this evil of cannibalism, forcing Igbo people, will be haunted forever. Igboland has been destroyed by some demented followers and these demented persons are engaging in all sort of evils, eating humans.

"I have first hand information and I have pictures and videos. Many Igbos are abroad and they are supporting evil happening in Biafraland. Look at how Onitsha has been destroyed, as now they’ve four days or sometimes three days of market and no sales.

“What’s the use of an Igbo man without commercial activities? The time is coming when the people will rise up. What sort of Biafra are we looking for where we kill our own people.

 “What’s an Igbo man without trade? What freedom is an Igbo man looking for without trade? Many have been killed because they spoke against the sit-at-home. Sooner or later, every Igbo man will rise up.

“I’m not jealous of Nnamdi Kanu, I’m richer than him. I’ve more children than him, I have 21 children, so why would I be jealous of him?”
