Eguavoen brings in Iwobi as he switches to 4-3-3 line-up for today's game against Tunisia

SUPER Eagles head coach Augustine Eguavoen is expected to abandon the 4-2-4 formation he has adopted so far and switch to a 4-3-3 line-up for today Round of 16 clash against Tunisia with playmaker Alex Iwobi coming in for winger Samuel Chukwueze.

So far, Nigeria has had an easy ride in the tournament, winning all her three group games comfortably but now that the Eagles have entered the knock-out stage, things will get harder. Later today, Nigeria will take on the Carthage Eagles of Tunisia at the Stade Omnisports Roumde Adjia in Garoua in northern Cameroon.

Tunisia struggled to make it out of Group F after losing to Mali and Gambia, finishing in third place but despite this, the Carthage Eagles will still be formidable opponents. To make matters worse for the Tunisians, about eight members of their squad are out of the game after testing positive for Covid-19.

However, Mr Eguavoen is not taking anything for granted, so he has ditched his overtly attacking 4-2-34 formation in favour of a more balanced 4-4-3 line-up that will allow the Eagles to retain midfield possession. In previous games, too much responsibility was placed on the shoulders of Wilfred Ndidi and Joe Aribo in midfield.

Other than this, the team is expected to be identical to the one that played in the opening two matches. This will mean Kelechi Iheanacho playing out wide in the right with Moses Simon on the other flank astride targetman Taiwo Awoniyi.
