Governor Ortom vows to oppose Tinubu because he has pledged to continue Buhari's policies

GOVERNOR Samuel Ortom of Benue State has declared that he will not be supporting the presidential aspirations of Asiwaju Bola Tinubu because the former Lagos State governor is planning to continue the policies of President Muhammadu Buhari if elected.

Earlier this month, Asiwaju Tinubu announced that he will be seeking the presidential ticket of his party the All Progressives Congress (APC). Hoping to take over from President Buhari when his tenure ends in May next year, Asiwaju Tinubu has already kicked off his nationwide campaign.

Rejecting Asiwaju Tinubu's candidacy, Governor Ortom explained that he would urge his people to vote against him for insisting on continuing with the policies of President Buhari if elected. Asiwaju Tinubu has already declared that he would continue with the policies of the Buhari’s administration if elected as president.

Speaking in Makurdi, the Benue State capital, while assenting to the amended Open Grazing Prohibition and Ranches Establishment Law 2017, Governor Ortom said that President Buhari’s policies and programmes were bad. He warned that Asiwaju Tinubu would fail in his ambition if he opts to pursue President Buhari’s policies.

Governor Ortom said: “I heard about one of the presidential aspirants who said he would continue from Buhari’s good legacies. I want to tell him that if nobody has told him, me I want to tell him that Buhari’s policies and programmes are not good.

“Some of us, in our own little way will fight him and tell our people to vote against him. So, he has failed ab initio.”
