Marcelo Bielsa's Leeds United looks to bring Ola Aina back to the English Premier League

SUPER Eagles fullback Ola Aina could be on his way back to the English Premier League this month after Leeds United targeted him as one player the clubs needs to strengthen its injury-ravaged squad before the close of the January transfer window.

Due to start for Nigeria later today when the Super Eagles kick off their African Cup of Nations campaign against Egypt, Aina, 25 is wanted by Leeds' legendary manager Marcelo Bielsa. Aina's current club, Torino in Italy's Serie A, are apparently not going to stand in the way of a move if a suitable offer comes in.

Leeds has found the going that little bit harder during their second season in the English Premier League due to the fact that the side is riddled with injuries. For a squad that tends to rely on just 20 players with support from the Under-23s, recruitment is compulsory and chief executive Angus Kinnear plans to address this before the end of the current transfer window.

According to Italian media outlet Toro News, Leeds have been told a suitable offer can see a deal done. London-born Aina is also understood to be open to the idea of a return to English football, having started his career with Chelsea and had stints at Hull and Fulham.

Very versatile, Aina is comfortable playing on either flank, as a wing-back, fullback, third centreback or even midfielder and this versatility will likely appeal to Marcelo Bielsa. If Leeds sing the player, it will have to be done in absentia with the paperwork sent to him in Cameroon where her is featuring in the African Nations Cup.
