Governor Ortom wants Buhari to go a step further and declare three Fulani organisations as terrorists

GOVERNOR Samuel Ortom of Benue State has reiterated his call for President Muhammadu Buhari to declare all Fulani socio-cultural organisations including the , Miyetti Allah Cattle Breeders Association of Nigeria (Macban) as terrorists.

Earlier this week, the federal government eventually declared  armed bandits who have been holding the nation to ransom with their murderous campaign as terrorists. Following this move, Governor Ortom said the process now needs to be taken to the next level with the likes of Macban, Miyetti Allah Kautal Hore and the Fulani Nationality Movement (Funam) also declared terrorist organisations.

According to Governor Ortom, declaring bandits as terrorists would go a long way to contain the atrocities of the criminals and give citizens opportunities to go about their legitimate businesses unmolested.  He, however, called on the president to be bold enough to also declare the three leading Fulani organisations as terrorist bodies too.

Governor Ortom said: “Though the federal government’s measures on bandits now seems strong, the security challenges will only be adequately addressed if a similar hard position is taken on Miyetti Allah Kautal Hore, Macban and Funam, who have vowed and continued to cause mayhem in Benue State and other parts of the country because of the anti-grazing laws.”

He added that the anti-grazing law had come to stay in Benue, pointing out that the state stands on its position that it has no grazing routes, or areas for cattle grazing. According to Governor Ortom, from all indications, the ruling  All Progressives Congress administration had run out of ideas and the party has exhausted all its lies with nothing more to tell Nigerians.
