Southampton join the list of clubs looking to bring Joe Aribo to England in January

SUPER Eagles midfielder Joe Aribo could be on his way to the English Premier League next year as Southampton are considering moving for him during the forthcoming January transfer window.

Currently plying his trade with Glasgow Rangers in Scotland, Aribo, 25, has been one of the standout performers in the side since he joined them from English Championship side Charlton Athletic. Last Saturday, Southampton watched him play in a league game against Dundee United, sending a scout to take note of his performance.

Aribo has 18 months left on his Rangers deal and new manager Giovanni van Bronckhorst recently said he would hopes the midfielder will extend his contract. However, Aribo is already on the radar of several English clubs and has recently been linked with ex-boss Steven Gerrard’s Aston Villa.

Back in 2019, Aribo signed from Charlton in a cut-price cross-border and since then has made 115 appearances for Rangers. An energetic box-to-box midfielder, Aribo is regarded as another Gerrard type of player who defends, dictates play and also scores goals.
