FORMER aviation minister Chief Femi Fani-Kayode has been reportedly re-arrested by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) over an alleged forgery and document falsification case involving an ongoing investigation.

Chief Fani-Kayode with served as aviation minister towards the tail-end of the Obasanjo administration between 2006 and 2007, has a pending case with the EFCC. He is involved in  an ongoing trial involving a N4.9bn ($11.9m) corruption case and as part of proceedings has had to file documents to support his case.

However, according to a report by Channels TV, Chief Fani-Kayode was arrested yesterday after proceedings at the Federal High Court in Ikoyi, Lagos. He was said to have been apprehended by EFCC operatives after the judge, Justice Daniel Osaigor, adjourned proceedings

It is believed that Chief Fani-Kayode was then driven straight to the EFCC offices in Lagos and it is not yet clear when he will be released. Last week, the EFCC had invited Chief Fani-Kayode for questioning at its Lagos zonal office over document falsification of his medical report to evade his ongoing trial for fraud.
