Divisional police officer abducted in Edo State with kidnappers demanding N50m ransom

ARMED gunmen have kidnapped the divisional police officer (DPO) in charge of Etsako Central Local Government Area of Edo State Ibrahim lshaq and are demanding a ransom fee of N50m ($122,000) from his family for his release.

 

In a daring operation, the hoodlums Mr Ishaq on Friday night while he was driving in his private vehicle along the old Auchi-Ekperi-Agenebode road. He has since been whisked away to an undisclosed operation, with the kidnappers making contact with his family in what appears to be a well planned operation.

 

Over the weekend, vigilantes have been combing the area in search of the kidnapers den with the incident triggering tension in the community. Edo State police commissioner Philip Ogbadu, has already ordered the men of the Anti-Kidnapping and Cybercrime Unit to join the search and fish out the hoodlums.

 

Police combing the area have been joined by the men of the tactical and strike team of the Edo State Police Command. Edo is one of the states in the south-south geo-political zone plagued with insecurity as a result of the activities of kidnappers, cultists, bandits and other criminal elements.
