Local youths in Anambra village burn down church after teacher marries his 17-year old sister there

LOCAL youths in Aguata Local Government Area of Anambra State have burnt down a local church after a 25-year old teacher married his 17 year old sister at the facility claiming God told him to do so.

In a bizarre case, Chiadikobi Ezeibekwe, a local mathematics teacher said he had a revelation where God told him to marry his sibling. He quoted bible passages in Deuteronomy to illustrate that siblings could marry each other, adding that he did not pay any bride price to anybody in respect of the marriage.

Mr Ezeibekwe said: “One advantage of doing this is that it discourages divorce. It also retains family values and norms.

“I don’t feel guilty, I don’t feel ashamed and I don’t feel intimidated in any way. Only God can stop us.”

After his sister agreed to marry him, the wedding was conducted by Chiadikobi’s elder brother, Chijioke Ezeibekwe, who is the  priest of Dwelling Fullness of God Church, Agba. Upon hearing of the news, the village youth set the church, where the wedding was conducted ablaze.

Gabriel Ezeukwu, the traditional prime minister of Ekwulobia, said: “I restrained the youth from further action against the man and his family. If it were in the past, the entire family would be burnt down because this is a grave abomination and sin.”

Emeka Ezeibekwe, the eldest son of the family, vowed to resist their union. He said it is over his dead body that they will call themselves husband and wife.
