Ndidi resumes training with Leicester City indicating he may return for World Cup qualifiers

SUPER Eagles midfielder Wilfred Ndidi has resumed training with his Leicester City team mates having been out of action since September with a hamstring injury that has seen him miss both league and national team games.

Widely regarded as the best anchorman in the English Premier League, Ndidi is a super-talented tackler and ball winner, who shields his back four brilliantly. However, he has been out of action for over a month after picking up a hamstring injury in Leicester’s 2-2 draw against Burnley at the King Power Stadium in September.

As a result, of the injury, Ndidi  missed Nigeria’s doubleheader 2022 World Cup qualifying games against the Central African Republic early this month. Leicester’s manager Brendan Rodgers had revealed that Ndidi would not return to action until after next month’s international break bit it appears that the anchorman has recovered earlier than scheduled.

Earlier this week, Ndidi was pictured in training with his teammates ahead of the Foxes clash against Arsenal. Although he is likely to miss the game against the Gunners, he could be back for the trip to Elland Road against Leeds next week.

This also means Ndidi could be available for Nigeria’s 2022 World Cup qualifiers against Cape Verde and Liberia in November, handing manager Gernot Rohr a massive boost. Nigeria needs to win just one of the games to qualify for the final stage of the World Cup qualifiers.
