Pinnick confident Lookman's Fifa switch will come through any moment from now

NIGERIAN Football Federation (NFF) president Amaju Pinnick is confident that Leicester City winger Ademola Lookman will soon feature for the Super Eagles as his international switch is currently being dealt with by Fifa.

Lookman 24, has represented England at the youth level, winning the U-20 Fifa World Cup in 2017, meaning that he will have to undergo a switch to be eligible to represent Nigeria at senior level. Currently owned by German side Leipzig, Lookman was loaned to Fulham last season where he was sensational and has continued that good form at Leicester this season where he is also on loan.

Born to Nigerian parents in England, Lookman has long been on the radar of the NFF and Mr Pinnick believes that it is now only a matter of time before the winger wears green-white-green. He added that the NFF has already started the paperwork with Fifa and the switch will be completed in a matter of time.

Mr Pinnick said: “Ademola Lookman is excited about fighting for a shirt in the Super Eagles. He loves Nigeria and by his grace, we shall conclude the switch very soon.”

Although it remains to be seen if the switch will be completed in time just before next year’s Africa Cup of Nations, Lookman will not feel out of place when he eventually makes his Super Eagles bow. A former Everton star, Lookman is already teammates with Wilfred Ndidi and Kelechi Iheanacho at the King Power Stadium, while he is also friends with Alex Iwobi and Ola Aina.
