Katsina youth confesses to conniving with bandits to kidnap his own 60 year old father

KATSINA State youth Hamza Isah has admitted to conniving with bandits to kidnap his own father from Rinjin Gora village in Matazu Local Government Area of the state after the two of them had a recent altercation.

In the first such instance of its kind, Hamza Isah, 25, from Rinjin Gora village, in Matazu Local Government Area of Katsina State, was to receive N200,000 for his part in the crime. Hamza, alleged to be at loggerheads with his 60-year-old father, Alhaji Isah Maigora, said he conspired with two members of the community who are also currently under arrest, to kidnap his dad, who is still being held.

Hamza confessed: “I had issues with my Dad, so, I went to Auwal Magaji to help me with fertiliser. He promised to help me not just fertiliser but lots of money if I could help them to kidnap my father.

“Instantly, he gave me N20,000 and promised to give me N200,000 when my father is kidnapped and ransom is paid. I told them that it will be difficult to kidnap my father as our compound is well fortified but they told me not to worry and gave me six different charms to bury in the compound which I did.

"Three days later, they came into our compound and kidnapped my father. I decided to spill the bean because after my father was kidnapped, I went to Auwalu Magaji that I want to return the money he gave me and he threatened that my life would be in danger if I dare tell anyone but when they brought me to the command and I was suffering, I decided to reveal everything.”

Police spokesman Superintendent Isah Gambo, recently paraded the suspect and his accomplices before pressmen at the Katsina State Police Command. He revealed that the elder brother to the suspect, Buhari Isah, became suspicious of his brother’s utterances after their father was kidnapped.

He said his younger brother, Hamza, was bragging that he is going to have a lot of money very soon. This made him to call on the police to look into the matter and in the course of interrogation, the suspect confessed to have masterminded the father’s abduction after being lured with an initial N20,000 gift and charms by an elderly man from the community and the promise of a handsome reward when the operation is successful.
