Arsenal reported to also be interested in signing Nigerian striker Paul Onuachu from Genk

ENGLISH Premier League giants Arsenal are now expected to join the race to sign Nigerian striker Paul Onuachu as his recent exploits with Belgian side Genk have turned him into one of the most sought-after players in Europe.

Onuachu, 27, is currently attracting the attention of the likes of Tottenham Hotspurs and Atletico Madrid, according to Spanish media outlet Mundo Deportivo. In a recent report, the publication said that Arsenal have now joined the fray as the Gunners need a striker who can score 33 league goals in 38 matches as Onuachu did last season.

Arsenal will probably lose either or both Eddie Nketiah and Alexandre Lacazette at the end of this season, so Onuachu would be an ideal replacement. Standing at six feet five inches, Onuachu is thought to be the ideal targetman for the English Premier League as he can win aerial duels, hold the ball up and has the physicality to compete in what is a roughty toughty league.

According to Mundo Deportivo, Onuachu would offer Arsenal the option of crossing balls more often, which he would be well placed to convert. At 27, Onuachu is older than the players the club has been signing recently but a three-year deal could be in the offing as he is cheaper than the likes of Dusan Vlahovic, who the club is interested in.

Mundo Deportivo claims that the Gunners have made contact with the player’s Belgian club and the player is said to be keen on the move. At the end of last season, Onuachu failed to secure a dream move away from Belgium but he has put that disappointment behind him and has notched 11 goals already this term.
