DSS move veteran Nollywood actor Chiwetalu Agu to Abuja for further interrogation

DEPARTMENT of State Services (DSS) officials have flown veteran Nollywood actor Chiwetalu Agu to Abuja for interrogation following his recent arrest over his support for the Indigenous People of Biafra (Ipob) cause.

Mr Agu, 65, was first arrested by the Nigerian Army on October 7, in Onitsha, Anambra State, for wearing a Biafra outfit while distributing bread and other items to the poor. He was accused him of soliciting support for Ipob which has been accused of several acts of terrorism and has been made illegal; by the federal government.

Following his arrest, Mr Agu was subsequently handed over to the DSS for investigation and prosecution. It  appears that was first moved from Onitsha to Enugu and then secretly flown to Abuja where he is currently being detained.

According to one of Mr Agu's  relative, his family had been denied access to him as all attempts to see him in Abuja were rebuffed by the DSS. According to the relative, the actor was not even being allowed access to legal representation.

He added: “We spent two days trying to ascertain his whereabouts and we were later informed that he was moved to Enugu and then Abuja. We heard that the idea is to move him away from the southeast, so we have made efforts to see him but the DSS has not granted us access and even the lawyers have not been allowed to reach him.
