Man United look set to make €66m bid for Ndidi during the January transfer window

MANCHESTER United appear all set to sign Super Eagles anchorman Wilfred Ndidi from Leicester City when the January transfer widow opens at the end of the year in a last ditch attempt to make their squad strong enough to challenge for the league title.

Currently sitting fourth in the English Premier League after seven games, Manchester United is aware of the fact that if needs to invest more to see off rivals like Chelsea, Liverpool and Manchester City. In the summer Manchester United invested heavily buying Cristiano Ronaldo from Juventus for a fee of €15m with a maximum of €8m in add-ons over a two year period.

However, manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is aware of the fact that his team is still lacking in midfield and her need an addition there to support Paul Pogba and Bruno Fernandes. Manchester United's defensive midfield position has been a problem over the last few years, with the likes of Fred and Matic failing to impress in that role.

Ndidi could be the perfect solution to the club’s woes as he has shown he is one of the best defensive midfielders in the Premier League and the world. United fans had even urged the club to sign the 24-year-old Nigerian in the summer but he is likely to cost a fortune as he is currently valued at €66m and his current contract at the King Power Stadium does not expire until 2024.

By far the best ball winner in the English league, Ndidi joined Leicester City from Genk in January 2017 and has gone on to become one of the key players in the Foxes team. He has made the sixth-highest number of interceptions in the Premier League this season, while no one has made more since 2019/20.
