Tinubu denies that he is terminally ill saying he is only undergoing physiotherapy in London

ALL Progressives Congress (APC) national leader Asiwaju Bola Tinubu has dismissed suggestions that he is totally incapacitated pointing out that he is healthy and is only undergoing physiotherapy in London.

Over recent weeks, numerous Nigerian politicians have been trooping to London to see Asiwaju Tinubu who is recovering from knee surgery. There had been suggestions that Asiwaju Tinubu was terminally ill but allaying these fears, the former Lagos State governor said he is healthy but only undergoing physiotherapy in London.

Speaking addressing members of the House of Representatives' northern caucus that visited him in London yesterday, Asiwaju Tinubu said he was undergoing physiotherapy which he described as gruesome. Dressed in a kaftan and a red cap Asiwaju Tinubu added that he hopes to return to Nigeria as soon as possible.

Asiwaju Tinubu said: “Because of God and people like you, I am well. It is just the  physiotherapy that is gruesome.”

Since being stranded in London, Asiwaju Tinubu has been visited by the likes of President Muhammadu Buhari, Hon Femi Gbajabiamila, governors Abdullahi Ganduje, Dapo Abiodun, Babajide Sanwoolu, Rotimi Akeredolu and Kayode Fayemi. His prolonged stay abroad has, however, drawn criticism from a section of Nigerians who believe he ought to have stayed in the country to receive treatment.

Reno Omokri, a former aide to former President Goodluck Jonathan, said should Asiwaju Tinubu become Nigeria's president in 2023, he would continue President Buhari’s tradition of seeking treatment abroad at the expense of taxpayers. President Buhari goes for medical treatment in the UK every year.
