Governor Abiodun reveals that Segun Osoba is also recovering from surgery in the UK

FORMER Ogun State governor Chief Olusegun Osoba has joined the growing list of Nigerian dignitaries recuperating in London after it emerged that he is currently reconvalescing in the UK after having knee surgery.

Earlier this week, the current Ogun State governor Dapo Abiodun returned from London under controversial circumstances having left the state ungoverned for a few weeks. Governor Abiodun, his deputy and the speaker of the Ogun State House of Assembly were all abroad at the same time, leaving a massive governance vacuum.

It is well known that Governor Abiodun came to visit Asiwaju Bola Tinubu, the All Progressives Congress leader who is also recovering in London after having surgery in the US. Defending his visit to the UK, Governor Abiodun revealed that while he was in London, he also visited Chief Osoba, who was one of his predecessors.

Governor Abiodun said: “Our Baba, Chief Olusegun Osoba, underwent knee replacement surgery in the UK and we thank God that it went well, as he is now fine and in perfect condition. He spoke to me that he would have loved to be present at the independence celebration, but for the surgery.”

While congratulating Chief Osoba over the success of the knee replacement surgery, the governor said Nigerians should rally round their leaders, expressing optimism that Nigeria will overcome its challenges. He added that Chief Osoba had sent his words of admonition, asking Nigerians not to lose hope in Project Nigeria.

He prayed God preserve Chief Osoba and grant him good health, assuring Nigerians that the octogenarian would soon return. Chief Osoba is a close friend of Asiwaju Tinubu, who has attracted dozens of visitors, including President Muhammadu Buhari.
