Moffi called up to replace Everton's Iwobi for Central African Republic World Cup qualifiers

LORIENT of France striker Terem Moffi has been called up as a replacement for Everton's Alex Iwobi for Nigeria's forthcoming World Cup qualifiers against the Central African Republic who recently picked up an injury.

Iwobi was one of the original 23 players invited to prosecute the two matches on October 7 and 10 at home in Lagos and away in Douala respectively. However, he has had to pull out after suffering an injury forcing Mr Rohr to look for a replacement.

Already, Leicester City midfielder, Wilfred Ndidi is missing from the squad due to injury as is Watford's  Oghenekaro Etebo, who is actually expected to be sidelined for five months. Moffi is making a return to the Eagles after he debuted with the Super Eagles in a 1–0 loss to Cameroon on June 4 this year.

Nigeria currently tops Group C of the World Cup race with six points from two matches. Wins for the Eagles in the double-header will secure a place in the final play-offs for the World Cup, where the top 10 teams will slug it out for a place for the five teams representing Africa at the World Cup.
