Ipob threatens to shutdown the southeast for a month if Kanu is not produced in court on Oct 21

SECESSIONIST group the Indigenous People of Biafra (Ipob) has threatened to shut down the southeast geo-political zone for a month over if the federal government fails to produce  its leader Nnamdi Kanu in court at his next hearing on October 21.

Highly controversial Mr Kanu, who is trying to recreate the defunct republic of Biafra that existed briefly between July 1967 and January 1970, was facing treason charges in Nigeria before he jumped bail and fled  the country. However, he was dramatically abducted by Nigerian security agents in Kenya and flown back to Nigeria and us now being detained by the Department of State Security (DSS) as his treason trial is set to resume.

Yesterday, the DSS failed to produced Mr Kanu in court at the hearing of a civil suit he filed challenging his abduction. This is the second such time security agents have failed to produce Mr Kanu in court lately, forcing Ipob to declare that it will initiate a one month lockdown if the federal government refuses to produce their leader.

Ipob spokesman Emma Powerful, claimed that the federal government was planning to keep Mr Kanu perpetually incarcerated. He added that the thinking behind the plot was to demoralise Mr Kanu and the Biafran agitation.

Mr Powerful said: “The attention of the Indigenous People of Biafra, ably led by our great prophet and liberator of our time, Mazi Nnamdi Kanu, has been drawn to the plot by the Nigerian government and her DSS in Abuja not to produce our leader in court on October 21 2021, the date he is due to appear to start his case. The federal government of Nigeria has again perfected plans not to bring him to court on that day.

“Their wicked plan is to perpetually keep him behind bars without trial to see if they can demoralise him and Biafrans but they are late. If the federal government refuses to bring him to court in his next court appearance on October 21, 2021, the entire Biafra land will be on total lock down for one month.

The federal government will know that they cannot take us for granted anymore and our peaceful disposition as a people should not be misconstrued as a weakness. Nigeria cannot incarcerate our leader illegally and expect things to be normal again, so if by October 21, Kanu is not brought to court, Nigeria will know that Kanu commands the unflinching loyalty of over 60m Biafrans at home and in the diaspora.

“By keeping our leader out of circulation his health will be in jeopardy and we won’t allow this. The Fulani-controlled Nigerian government must tell us why it will choose to disobey court orders and expect citizens to watch like conquered slaves.

"They are busy granting amnesty to terrorists and bandits killing their soldiers and citizens but keeping peaceful agitators in perpetual detention. Their plan is to suppress agitation and force everyone into submission but Biafrans won’t succumb to their intimidation.

"We are a different people. Their plan is to silence agitations for freedom as championed by Nnamdi Kanu and Sunday Igboho so that the Fulani from across Africa will overrun Nigeria but they can’t conquer Biafraland as they have conquered the Hausa and other indigenous tribes in Nigeria.”
