Nigerian Army troops recover 11 rocket launchers from terrorists in Adamawa State

NIGERIAN soldiers have recovered 11 rocket launchers from armed bandits in Adamawa State after launching an assault on their camp in Maiha Local Government Area which was once under the control of Boko Haram.

Mahia town in Maiha Local Government Aerea of Adamawa State was once a terrorist enclave as it was one of seven local government areas which fell to Boko Haram in 2014. Over the last few days, government forces have launched an offensive to reclaim the local authority from armed hoodlums who have been in control of it of late.

After days of heavy shelling, government soldiers succeeded in neutralising an unspecified number of bandits in Maiha local government area. Abdulganiyu Pakka, the senior special assistant to the chairman of Maiha Local Government Area, said that during the military action against the bandits, three grenade bombs were also recovered.

Dr Idi Ali, the chairman of Maiha Local Government Area, commended the security agents for acting against the bandits. He advised the citizens to be conscious of the people and report suspicious persons to the relevant security agencies.

It appears that some bandits escaping from Zamfara State are coming into Maiha. Major Sani Mohammed, a spokesman for the 23 Armoured Brigade of the Nigerian Army in Yola, said that he was aware of a clearance operation but he did not know about the outcome of the action around Maiha.
