Sowore's younger brother Olajide Sowore shot dead by unknown gunmen in Edo State

SAHARA Reporters' publisher and former presidential candidate Omoyele Sowore has lost his younger brother Olajide after he was shot dead yesterday by unknown gunmen near Okada in Edo State.

Olajide, who is studying pharmacy at Igbinedion University in Edo State, was shot in the early hours of  this morning by killers thought to be Fulani herdsmen. Omoyele Sowore has confirmed the incident, described his deceased brother who almost clocked 50 as an out-of-the-box thinker.

Sowore said: “My immediate younger brother, Olajide Sowore was today shot and killed near Okada in Edo State by reportedly herdsmen /kidnappers on his way from Igbinedion University where he is studying Pharmacy. They snuffed out the life yet another real human being.

“Rest on power, Dr Mamiye. This act in itself will not delay their day of justice. I travelled widely with you and our father as a little kid and you were the most loved robust kid I ever first knew.

"You, Mr Magnet had no enemy. You lived your life so that everyone could be alright but now you are assassinated by everything that’s not alright. Saddest day yet. Rest on brother till we meet again.”

He further described the deceased as someone who made everyone happy adding that he always took all the blame when they were about to be punished by their father. According to Omoyele, Olajide would snuck out his older ones to parties but receive the punishment when their disciplinarian father found out.
