Super Eagles seeded ahead of tomorrow's African Cup of Nations draw in Cameroon

NIGERIA has been seeded for the 2022 African Cup of Nations due to kick off in January next year after been picked as one of the top five teams in today draw conducted by the Confederation of African Football (Caf).

 

Taking place between January 9 and February 6, the 33rd edition of the African Cup of Nations will hold in Cameroon and shall involve 24 teams. This morning, Caf announced the six seeded teams which include hosts Cameroon, defending champions Algeria, Nigeria, Senegal, Tunisia and Morocco.

 

All six teams were drown in Pot One and will have in their groups at least one team from Pot Two, which includes Egypt, Ghana, Ivory Coast, Mali, Guinea and Burkina Faso. Teams in Pot Three include Cape Verde, Gabon, Mauritania, Zimbabwe, Guinea-Bissau and Sierra Leone, while Pot Four is made up of Malawi, Sudan, Comoros, Equatorial Guinea, Gambia and Ethiopia.

 

Tomorrow, the final draws will be made with the 24 teams drawn into six groups of four. Under the new format adopted in this expanded tournament, the top two teams in each group, along with the best four third-placed teams will advance to the knock-out stage of the competition.
