Spurs look to replace Gareth Bale with Nigerian winger Paul Mukairu after he impresses

ENGLISH Premier League side Tottenham Hotspurs have made enquiries about signing Nigerian winger Paul Mukairu from Turkish club Antalyaspor ahead of the forthcoming season after he impressed while on loan at Belgian club Anderlecht.

Mukairu, 21, thought to be available for just £4m, could end up being Gareth Bale’s replacement at Spurs. Last season, Mukairu played on loan at Anderlecht, where he put up an impressive show, scoring twice and registering four assists in The Jupiler league.

Anderlecht showed interest in signing him on a permanent deal but the club had to let go of the player due to financial restraints. Following his impressive displays in Belgium, Antalyaspor recalled him but the club will now have to fight off bids from interested suitors.

Apart from Spurs, AC Milan Bayer Leverkusen, Roma and PSV Eindhoven are also all said to be interested in Mukairu. After a disappointing season, Spurs manager Jose Mourinho is looking to rebuild the team and it is already looking like he will lose his main striker, England skipper Harry Kane.
