West Ham told they can have Super Eagles striker Paul Onuachu for just £17m this summer

ENGLISH Premier League side West Ham could land Super Eagles striker Paul Onuachu for just £17.13m this summer as discussions between the club and his agent have an advanced stage that involved there being instalmental payments.

Onuachu, 27, has had a very impressive season in the Belgian Juliper League where he has scored 35 goals in 41 games for Belgian side Genk. With Michail Antonio being the only recognised senior centre forward option at West Ham, Hammers manager David Moyes knows he needs to strengthen his attack next season, especially as the club will be playing in the Europa League.

While it has been widely reported that Onuachu would cost West Ham and suitors £25.72m, fresh reports indicate that his agent told teams that a fess if £12.86m up-front and £4.29m in add-ons would acceptable. Highly respected website Own Goal Nigeria, reported that Onuachu's agent, who is currently in London, is close to securing a deal with West Ham.

One source close to the player said: “Clubs have been told it will cost €15m with add-ons that will take it to €20m. That is his valuation not the viral €26m rising to €30m after add-ons and this was discussed with teams in England and a bid is expected from one soon.”

Onuachu dreams of playing in the Premier League and a move to England is his preference this summer despite interests from around Europe. Standing at six feet seven inches, Onuachu scored 35 goals in 41 games last season, emerging as the Belgian’s league highest goalscorer and player of the season.
