As part of an ambitious industrialisation programme, we should turn Ore, the gateway between western and eastern Nigeria into a mega commercial city with a masterplan that looks like this

Ayo Akinfe

[1] A 170 metre Ferris Wheel will be built there- This will make it the largest in the world and it will be solar-powered (High Roller, the one in Las Vegas is 167.6 meters and currently holds the world record). Also, no Ferris Wheel anywhere on earth is solar-powered as ours will be

[2] The Ondo State government will build 1,000 warehouse units and 500 housing units at Ore. This will halve the trips for those travelling from the east to Lagos and vice versa

[3] In addition, the Ondo State government will construct 500 grain and vegetable silos. Capetown was founded by tweo Indian brothers as a halfway house between the Dutch East Indies and Europe to cut the trip for sailors in half. We are basically doing the same thing here

[4] A 2,000 capacity conference centre will be built there. Kind of similar to the UK's National Exhibition Centre in Birmingham

[5] An unprecedented hotel to be named The Nativity Hotel should be built in Ore. Its beds will be made of mangers and the hotel itself will be constructed to look like a stable. It will aim to attract tourists from all over the world

[6] A cocoa processing plant that can grind 100,000 tonnes to cocoa powder and cocoa butter should be build there. Do you know that Ivory Coast, Ghana, Nigeria and Cameroon account for 80% of global cocoa production between them? It is time to take charge of the chocolate industry

[7] A modular oilseed crushing plant that can be used to crush palm kernels, coconuts, groundnuts, shea nuts, cashewnuts, soyabeans and any other such produce as become available. It will have a capacity of 150,000 tonnes

[8] A 100-storey tower block with office space should be built there. This will make it Nigeria's tallest building and will surpass the 64-floor Stratosphere Abuja

[9] A dual carriageway linking Ore with Okitipupa and Ilaje should be built there, so the hub is linked to the crude oil-producing regions to the south of Ondo State

[10] A 100,000 capacity cattle ranch can be built there. This will solve the numerous problems of armed herdsmen, poor output, addressing animal health concerns, securing livestock against theft, ensuring our animals meet international standards and stepping up a beef export programme
