How I expect President Buhari to react to the ongoing protests against the killings in the southeast

Ayo Akinfe

[1] I have ordered the immediate dropping of all charges against Nnamdi Kanu and all other members of the Independent People of Biafra. They are to be released without charge and negotiations will commence with them immediately to address their concerns. Troops will also be withdrawn from across the southeast and confined to their barracks in Enugu and Ohafia

[2] During the course of 2021, I shall be submitting a bill to the National Assembly seeking to create Anioma State.  It shall span from Atani east of Onitsha to Agbor in Delta State in the west. Anioma State shall be charged with the responsibility of overseeing the construction of a second bridge across the River Niger

[3] As from 2021 onwards, we shall begin scaling back the federal allocation regime. As a result, we shall increase the oil allocation to crude-producing states to 30% in 2021 with a view to gradually phasing this out by 2030. In line with the vision of our founding fathers, the federating units shall become responsible for generating their own revenue

[4] We shall turn Borno State into the world's largest agricultural plantation and livestock ranch. Given that half of the population currently lives in Maiduguri the state capital, we shall seek to demolish the wrecked buildings in all those abandoned villages and covert them into commercial farms and cattle ranches.  Private sector players will be invited to build massive plantations across the state

[5] Taraba State shall be turned into one huge tourist attraction, We shall seek to build a wildlife reserve there that matches South Africa's Kruge National Park. Given the preponderance of wildlife along the Cameroonian border like gorillas, giraffe, lions, the Gashaka National Park shall be converted into Unesco heritage site where hunting is forbidden and facilities shall be constructed to build numerous tourist towns

[6] Troops shall be withdrawn from across the Niger Delta and relocated to Port Harcourt while comprehensive talks on the future of the region begin. We shall aim to have a comprehensive agreement within the first three months of 2022. All militants will be given a general amnesty under the programme

[7] My government shall enter into negotiations with China about building the world's largest hydro-electric power station in Lokoja. To be bigger than the Three Gorges Dam in Hubei, China with an instantaneous generating capacity (22,500 MW), the facility will be available by 2025 and will have a capacity of 25,000MW

[8] Construction of a high speed railway link connecting Abuja and Lagos will begin in 2022. Travelling at a speed of 300km per hour, this rail link will mean that the journey can be completed within two hours. It will be a prelude to the opening of similar high speed rail links across Nigeria

[9] Our six biggest states by landmass - Borno, Niger, Taraba, Bauchi, Kaduna and Yobe will be given a federal grant to construct a cattle ranch within its domain. All Fulani herdsmen will be asked to locate their livestock there. These special ranches will be built up into towns with all the accompanying facilities like police stations, clinics, hospitals, schools, churches, mosques, banks, etc. They will be self-funding metropolises.

[10] All diasporans will be given interest-free mortgages over 20 year periods that will enable them to buy houses in Nigeria. This is to encourage them to bring home much-needed foreign exchange.
