Bright Osayi-Samuel may be returning to Britain after just one season in Turkey with Fenerbahce

NIGERIAN-born winger Bright Osayi-Samuel could on his way back to Britain from Turkey after Fenerbahce revealed that it is ready to put him up for sale and Scottish giants Celtic and Glasgow Rangers have signified an interest in purchasing him.

In January this year, Osayi-Samuel joined Fenerbahce from English Championship side Queens Park Rangers but after just one season, the Turkish giants are prepared to let him go. Osayi-Samuel, 23, failed to sparkle for Fenerbahce in the 18 matches he featured in while playing in the Super Lig over the second half of the season.

As a result Fenerbahce have started negotiations with Monaco about a purchase of another Nigerian winger Henry Onyekuru. Osayi-Samuel, rated at £3m,  only scored one goal in the 3-0 victory over Konyaspor in March and struggled to make any significant impact in the Turkish league.

He is not short of admirers as Scottish rivals Rangers and Celtic have been linked to the flying winger and may decide to make a move for his services. Apparently, Monaco are also interested in his services, raising the prospect of a swap between the club and Fenerbahce involving Onyekuru and Osayi-Samuel.

Onyekuru is a Monaco player who spent last season on loan to Galatasray and Fenerbahce  were impressed enough with his services to want to retain him. He impressed at rivals Galatasaray, scoring five goals and providing four assists in only 14 games for coach Fatih Terim’s side.

Fenerbahce are at the forefront of the race to sign Onyekuru from Monaco after Galatasaray decided not to activate the €4.5m buy option in his loan deal. Olympiacos are also interested in Onyekuru and the Greek champions stand a good chance of landing him as he may not be eager to move to Galatasaray’s city rivals in Istanbul.
