Ola Aina's strike against West Bromwich Albion shortlisted for Premier League Goal of the Season

SUPER Eagles defender Ola Aina's wonder strike against West Bromwich Albion (WBA) for Fulham in their English Premier League clash on November 20 last year has been shortlisted for the Premier League Goal of The Season award.

In the game that took place at Craven Cottage, Aina found the back of the net with a wonder strike in the 20th minute, scoring Fulham's second goal in a 2-0 victory. A blinding left footer from just outside the area, it found the top right hand corner of the net, giving Fulham a two goal cushion after Bobby De Cordova-Reid's curtain raiser four minutes earlier.

During the course of the 2020/21 season, during which he played as a fullback, wingback and centreback, Aina scored two goals. Of his two goals, however, the strike against WBA is adjudged to be one of the best nine of the season.

To win the award, Aina would have to fight off competition from West Ham United’s Manuel Lanzini, Jesse Lingard and Sebastien Haller and James Maddison of Leicester City. Other goals on the shortlist include ones from Mohamed Salah of Liverpool, Erik Lamela of Tottenham and one each from the Manchester United duo of Bruno Fernandes and Edinson Cavani.
