Kingsley Moghalu launches his 2023 presidential campaign saying he can wants to end violence

FORMER Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) deputy governor Professor Kingsley Moghalu has announced his intention to run for the Nigerian presidency again in the 2023 general elections declaring that he needs to do so because people matter.

In 2019, Professor Moghalu was a presidential candidate running on the platform of the Young Progressive Party, battling it out with heavyweights President Muhammadu Buhari and former vice president Alhaji Atiku Abubakar. He came a distant 14th with just 21,886 votes, behind the likes of Omoyele Sowore and Donald Duke.

However, with 2023 fast approaching, Professor Moghalu has issued a statement announcing his intention to run again. Stating that an inclusive national leadership and constitutional restructuring can curb the ongoing violence in the country, he added that he will run because the people matter.

Professor Moghalu said: “There is no hope out of our troubles until Nigeria faces the leadership question and looks for capacity, competence and a compassionate heart for the suffering poor. We live daily in the shadow of terrorists, the economy is collapsing and many families cannot afford the price of food.

“Only the emergence of a visionary, competent and inclusive national leadership on the one hand and the fundamental constitutional restructuring of Nigeria on the other, can arrest Nigeria’s ongoing and violent disintegration into a completely failed state. For the sake of the youths of our country, I intend, with all humility, to present myself again to Nigerians as a candidate for the office of the president of the Federal Republic of Nigeria in the 2023 general elections.”
