Glasgow Rangers reject €3.5m bid for Joe Aribo from Turkish giants Galatasaray

SCOTTISH Premiership champions Glasgow Rangers have rejected a (€3.5m) bid from Turkish giants Galatasaray for Super Eagles midfielder Joe Aribo who want to snap him up in the summer.

Galatasaray finished a disappointing second in the Turkish league last season behind Besiktas and are already looking to reinforce their squad that lost the title on goal difference. As a result, they have opted for Aribo to bolster their midfield in recognition of his brilliant campaign for Rangers last season.

Rangers bought Aribo, 24, on a free transfer two years ago but now want top dollar from any club that desires to sign the versatile Nigerian. During the season, Aribo was one of Rangers' most influential players, scoring six times, providing four assists and delivering numerous eye-catching performances as Steven Gerrard’s side romped to the Scottish league title without losing a game.

A classy playmaker with a deft touch, the Super Eagles ace also showed his versatility by dropping a few disciplined displays even as a left full-back or left-winger. However, Rangers want to keep Aribo for next season, especially with the club preparing to test their might against some of the continent’s best teams in the Uefa Champions League.

According to football website Fotospor, only a bid of at least (€10m) could tempt the Scottish champions to part with Aribo, a prized asset they bought in 2019. Galatasaray are reportedly not in a financial position to pay such an amount on one player.

Even Aribo is said not to be keen on leaving the UK for Turkey as he hopes to seal a move to Premier League move on the back of his performances for Rangers. His current contract with Rangers does not expire until the summer of 2023.
