Violence continues to spread across southeast with police station burnt down in Enugu State

VIOLENCE has continued to spread around the southeast geo-political zone after armed gunmen attacked the Iwollo Police Division in Ezeagu Local Government Area of Enugu State burning the facility to the ground.

 

Over recent months, the violence currently gripping Nigeria has recently spread to the southeast geo-political zone, especially in Imo State. Mohammed Aliyu, the Enugu State police commissioner said that the mayhem has now spread to his state, adding that he was already on ground to ascertain the level of destruction and casualties.

 

One eyewitness, said that the hoodlums attacked the division in their large numbers in the early hours of the day. He added that the attack caused panic in the Iwollo community throughout the day.

 

“They succeeded in completely razing down the buildings in the divisional station. The hoodlums might have also killed probably five gallant police personnel that confronted them when they attacked," he added.

 

On April 21, unknown gunmen shot two police operatives dead during an attack on Adani Police Station in Uzo-Uwani Local Government Area of Enugu State. During the attack, the station was set ablaze at about 2.30am.
